Obvara firing demonstration: Sunday starting at 2 p.m. (weather permitting / “non-rain” only)
The origin of the Obvara firing technique, also known as “Baltic Raku,” dates back to the 19th century. In this process, the ceramic piece is heated to approximately 900°C (1650°F), removed from the kiln while glowing hot, and immediately dipped into the Obvara mixture. Finally, it is plunged into water for rapid cooling.
