Studio McKiev

Studio McKiev in Sandweg

Frankfurt’s inner courtyards are known for their hidden surprises. They reveal themselves to those
who explore their surroundings with curiosity.
Since 2010, McKiev—our backyard studio located on Sandweg in Frankfurt’s Nordend-Ost, near
the lively lower Berger Straße—has become an insider tip among creative minds.
As artists, we often work alone. Moments of meaningful, creative exchange with like-minded
people are precious—but rare. We didn’t want to accept that. We wanted to meet others, to create a
space where people could express themselves creatively, draw inspiration from communication, and
inspire one another.
That’s how the idea of offering courses was born.
This is exactly where we come in. McKiev, in the heart of Frankfurt, has established itself as an
open artist studio—a place that fosters connection, community, and brings artistic visions to life.

The McKievs

The core energy of McKiev comes from the duo Natalia Makievski —a freelance visual artist and Stephan Makievski a free spirit whose work is rooted in nature and wilderness, percussion,
and movement. Both have academic backgrounds, strong charisma, and a deep, enduring passion
for sharing their knowledge.
What makes McKiev special is the way we combine our many years of teaching experience into a
kind of synergistic “cocktail,” which we serve in a competent, individual, and personal way.

Individual guidance without rigid curricula

We are not a school in the traditional sense. We don’t follow fixed plans or programs.
Instead, we focus on each individual who comes to us—their wishes, their goals. Our expertise is
like a treasure chest, always within reach, offering the right “gem” at the right moment for each
project we accompany.
Our person-centered approach—similar to one-on-one teaching—requires small group sizes of
about 7 to 10 participants. This allows for intensive individual guidance while also creating space
for exchange and mutual inspiration.
At first glance, the lively atmosphere of the studio might seem a bit chaotic. But look closer, and
you’ll see: everyone is working on their own project, receiving exactly the support they need.

A diverse range of courses

McKiev offers:
• Painting and drawing classes
• Ceramics (pottery and sculpting)
• Drum workshops and sound art
• Qi Gong and Tai Chi

The variety of themes, the warm and relaxed, almost family-like atmosphere, the flexibility,
individuality, openness, and mutual respect among participants — all of this is what make McKiev so
special. It’s something you can feel immediately, even if it’s hard to put into words.
